Chinese Astrology Signs Compatibility

Can we conclude that those born under a certain Chinese astrology animal sign display similar characteristics - good or bad? The answer is no, not exactly.

For example, I have many friends who are roosters but not everyone is outspoken or frank like a typical rooster. In fact some of them are quite the opposite. We can however say that a large percentage of those born under a similar sign tend to display characteristic of that animal sign.

There are 12 animals in the Chinese animal zodiac. They are the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog and pig – the cat is not included!

Let’s take a look at their strengths and weakness.

The positive qualities of a rat are meticulous, industrious, charming, eloquent and sociable. However they can be manipulative, dictatorial, selfish, critical and intolerant.

The Ox is dependable, patient, hardworking, conventional and tenacious. On the flip side they can be stubborn, narrow-minded, materialistic, rigid, demanding.

What about the tiger? They are unpredictable, rebellious, powerful, passionate and generous. However on the negative side they can be restless, reckless, impatient, obstinate and selfish.

The rabbit is kind, sensitive, soft-spoken, amiable and cautious. But they can also be moody, detached, superficial, self-indulgent and opportunistic.

The positive qualities of a dragon are self-assured, proud, direct, passionate and decisive. However they can be arrogant, demanding, eccentric, prejudiced and dogmatic.

The snake is wise, soft-spoken, creative, prudent, shrewd and purposeful. On the flip side they can be a loner, bad communicator, possessive, self-doubting and distrustful.

What about the horse? The horse is cheerful, changeable, perceptive, intelligent and open-minded. However on the negative side they can be fickle, anxious, rude, gullible and lack perseverance.

The goat is righteous, sympathetic, mild-mannered, creative and compassionate. But they can also be indecisive, over-passive, pessimistic, over-sensitive and a complainer.

The positive qualities of a monkey are quick-witted, inquisitive, innovative, self-assured and competitive. However they can also be egotistical, selfish, cunning, jealous and suspicious.

The rooster is meticulous, self-assured, decisive, critical and practical. On the flip side they can be over critical, puritanical, egotistical, abrasive and opinionated.

What about the dog? They are honest, loyal, possess a sense of fair play, unpretentious and affectionate. However on the negative side they can be cynical, judgmental, pessimistic, stubborn and quarrelsome.

Finally the pig is peace-loving, trusting, thoughtful, passionate and intelligent. But the can also be naive, over-reliant, self-indulgent, gullible and materialistic.

12 animal zodiacThose born under the animal signs that are four years apart are more compatible with each other. They include the pairing of the tiger, horse with the dog, the pairing of the snake, rooster with the ox, the pairing of the pig, rabbit with the goat and lastly the pairing of the monkey, rat with the dragon.

Also two animals can form a compatible pair. For example, the rat form a compatible pairing with ox, the pig and the tiger, the dog and the rabbit, the rooster and the dragon, the monkey and the snake and lastly between the goat and the horse.

Animal signs that are six year apart are less compatible. For example the rat is supposedly incompatible with the horse. The ox is incompatible with the goat, the tiger with the monkey, the rabbit with the rooster, the dragon with the dog and finally between the snake and the pig.

It is important not to take the incompatibility (and the compatibility) too seriously. For example I have seen many compatible horse and rat pairing. These compatible and incompatible pairing are formulated based on the characters of the animal sign.

The one thing missing that may be the magical glue that binds couples together is love! I am sure you have heard the songs, “All I need is love”. Or “Love will keep us together”.
